Copy of letter about our school trip.

24th May 2016

Dear Parent/Guardian
As part of our Growth and Change topic, Year R will be visiting Swanwick Lakes Education Centre.  We will be taking part in supervised outdoor group activities run by the centre to tie in with the EYFS curriculum.  Activities will include a camouflage activity involving woolly worms,  a sensory ‘feel a tree’ activity and sweep netting.
The trip will take place on Thursday 23rd June.  All children in the year group will take part in this visit and in line with the Governor’s Charging Policy we are asking for a voluntary contribution of £12  to go towards the costs of both the centre and the coach.  Please pay online if possible, via the link on the school website.  If not, cash or a cheque to Hook with Warsash Academy would be acceptable.
We will be leaving the school by coach at 9.15 and returning at approximately 3.00.  The children will not need to wear school uniform, although please dress them appropriately depending on the weather!  Please bring wellies if your child does not have any at school plus a waterproof coat and sun tan lotion if appropriate.  The children should wear long sleeves and long trousers as they will be spending time in a grassy meadow.  We have been advised that at this time of year tics may be present so please check your child afterwards and seek further advice if necessary.  There is no shop there so no pocket money is required.  Please note that, whilst all payments are on a voluntary basis, it may be necessary to cancel the visit if insufficient contributions are made.
As part of the Government scheme to provide all Year R and Key Stage 1 children with a meal, a school packed lunch can be provided. It will consist of the following:
  • A small ham or cheese sandwich
  • A piece of fruit
  • A plain biscuit
  • A drink
If you decide that you would like your child to have this school lunch, please indicate on the attached form.
If you are able to assist on this trip and have had a DBS check (CRB police check) completed through the school or are willing to have a List 99 check please indicate on the form attached.
Yours faithfully

More Heart Start photos...

Visit from Heartstart

Penguins and Turtles had a visit from David and Lesley from  Heartstart.  They taught us what to do in an emergency.

They gave us 6 letter names to help us remember.

We watched a dvd to help us remember what we should do.

Then David and Lesley demonstrated how to move someone into the recovery position.

Then we had a go ourselves!

A big thank you to Heartstart - we learnt a lot!
